Seven

Sadhus ("Holy Men") sleep anywhere and everywhere, most often where people can give them money !

A typical front entrance to a typical home, for those fortunate enough to have one.

I am fascinated by the old bikes and where you see them

Another wandering sadhu

And amazed at what they can get on the two wheelers

A common site, women carrying their water from a well or a common water tank

Ice cream cart, though it would be unwise to eat ice cream anywhere here, especially from these guys

A wandering sadhu wandering (usually sleeping or lounging around !)

Kids often play with old tyres, I imagine toys are rare for most of them

Always interesting characters aren't they ?

This is how he makes his living

One of the common water tanks, guaranteed NOT to be filtered water

This bike is essentially one sadhus home and contents, they usually have little or nothing

The huge Siva temple from part way up Arunachala

There is a cricket game everywhere, this one is serious, they are wearing their whites

Siva temple gopuram

Sitting sadhu

Some of the sadhus really love animals, monkeys, dogs and here a calf

Tiruvannamalai from the hill population about 150,000, very small town for India

This is rare, a happy smiley sadhu, they usually look very miserable

A typical home scene, collecting water for washing

Sadhu

Biking sadhu

Bullock carts still used everywhere here

Homeless women are often fed by various groups, I see this woman most days on the road

One of the cows from the farm where I'm staying
